i’ve been making these little birdies for awhile now and when i made a yellow one, i decided to give him a little shell and it reminded me of balut. for those who do not know what balut is, check wikipedia. i never had the guts to eat the chick inside and i don’t think i ever will. the shell is removable but i’m planning to make another one where the shell is attached to the bird and then make it into a keychain. school starting soon. that means not enough time for crocheting =( what a kill joy. it’s okay.. birthdays will be my excuse then =)

since i haven’t been sleeping at night lately, i’ve been watching movies/anime/series/etc. at youtube and i came across 1 Litre of Tears, the jdrama series. i’ve heard about it before but i didn’t know a place to download it with subs. lucky for me i came across it on youtube. i watched it for 2 days straight and each episode made me cry. makes you think and wonder.. how much we take a lot of things for granted. we forget from time to time so if you need remembering, i highly recommend this dorama. you can watch the videos from MocaJJar. here is the synopsis from Channel-Ai Community Blog:

This dorama is about a girl who was diagnosed with a disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration when she was 15 years old, and was able to continue her life until her death at the age of 25 years old.

The plot is based on the true story of a Japanese girl named Kito Aya, who had the same disease. She kept writing in her diary to remember her experiences until she could no longer hold a pen. Aya simply wished to live until the end of her life, and the purpose of writing in the diary was to remind herself to not give up. She shed tears many times, at the same time encompassed by the rich love and support from her family, friends, and boyfriend. Her diary “1 Litre of Tears” was published after her death, because of its inspiring and courageous message of, “Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing.” So far, over 18,000,000 copies of her diary have been sold.

I couldn’t sleep this morning. i saw an old drawing of a fallen angel i did at school and next thing i know, i was ripping it cause i didn’t like it. but i ended up saving it and taped it on top of a yellow construction paper. then i made birds from the black construction paper i ripped from the drawing and taped them around my room. i had so many ideas in my head that i ended up doodling some of my thoughts to a cardstock paper. i still remember the parts of the brain!

i felt like a kid again =)

..this is what happens when i don’t sleep.

I made two more hats! Now to make more hats for the cousins.. haha! So much stuff to make.. soo many people to teach crochet. You have to forgive me if I forget sometimes.. I made a pink one for my niece, Lana and she liked it. I added three pink felt flowers and one felt leaf on the side. The pattern called for buttons on the side so you can put the earflaps up but I think it looks better without them. I used the pda pattern from the book, Happy Hooker, but I altered it so it didn’t have clustured stitches.

i love origami.. the whole concept of turning a piece of paper into a work of art is just amazing! A friend of mine taught me how to fold a crane and she was nice enough to even let me use those beautiful origami papers to try it on. Unfortunately, I already forgot how to do it. I’ll post a mini tutorial on how to make a flower and a butterfly made out of money one of these days because a lot of people took interest in it and would also like to learn how.

I saw this little video posted on youtube, “crochet fortune cookies” and i decided to try it out. I can’t wait to make more and give them out. Just not so sure what it should say yet.. oh youtube is just amazing.

I have this cotton yarn color “sea mist” so I thought, “I should make that fish from my amigurumi book!!” I thought I would be able to make about two (even though the yarn ball was pretty small) and make key chains out of them so i can give them away but the pattern for the fish turned out to be HHUUGGGEE! lol! With the new fiberfill I bought, it’s soft but I used 100% cotton yarn so the shape holds up pretty well. and I found a new way to decrease/close them so I’m happy =] I named him “Peesshh” cause khaila was playing with him and she accidently called it pesshh. She corrects me from time to time, telling me it’s “fi-fi-fiisshh!!” but peesshh is cute. I think I should stop crocheting for awhile.. my hands are starting to hurt especially my right index finger because I use those metal crochet hooks.

..will be making more and adding ribbons on the top so i can hang them =]

ube flavored monkey!!! one done out of 16 patterns from the amigurumi book vol. 4. he’s not perfect but i fell in love with the color of the yarn plus pink goes so well with it so i made him a scarf =] at first i thought i was reading the pattern wrong.. a flat head and it is bigger than its body? hahah! but he’s cute. it was hard making the eyes match each other (made out of felt) but it’s good enough. i also added wire inside his tail.

next up, gloomy bear and “hello my name is” bear XD
those are the only ones i can make so far because i want those doll eyes i have yet to find for the others.
